Listen in Style with This Sonos and IKEA Collaboration

An IKEA speaker, designed to look like a picture frame.
IKEA

Set it on a table, hang it on a wall. However you set it up, this new speaker from IKEA is a stylish way to sneak some music into your space.

The speaker, appropriately called “Picture Frame,” is the newest addition to IKEA’s line of Symfonisk home speakers. IKEA accidentally leaked the speaker by publishing a listing for it ahead of the release date earlier this month. Now, though, we know a bit more about the speaker, including when the actual release date is.

Its external design stays in line with the rest of the Symfonisk product series, presenting as a work of art or decorative touch instead of immediately calling to mind the speaker function.

But if you’re worried about the speaker function not being up to snuff, don’t worry. Under the modern IKEA design aesthetic, there’s a Sonos speaker complete with Wi-Fi, Sonos platform interconnectivity, and access to a hundred streaming services.

The Picture Frame speakers are set for release on July 14, 2021, and will be available both in-store and online, with a retail price of $199. You’ll also be able to choose from a variety of additional covers for the speaker, which are each available for an additional $19.99.

Do note that there’s no placeholder for the new speaker yet on the IKEA website, but you can bookmark the general Wi-Fi speaker page and check back later in July.
