Why You Might Wanna Pour Your Coca-Cola into the Toilet

Let’s be honest, bathroom cleaners usually smell terrible, and Clorox is a surefire way to irritate your nose and throat. What you probably didn’t know is that the refreshing soft drink you enjoy on a hot summer day could be the solution.

You might not want to pour any of your precious Coca-Cola (minus the rum) into the toilet. But evidently, if you do so just around the edges of the bowl, the carbonation in the drink will cut through dirt and grime. The acids in the soda also break down any stains and leave your commode looking fresh.

The trick is to do it right before you go to bed and leave it overnight, and yes, it’ll look extremely gross. However, the next morning when you flush, you’ll have a clean toilet without any burning chemical smell.

Sound too good to be true? Well, Business Insider put the hack to the test and found it actually works. The outlet does recommend using a toilet brush to scrub a bit after flushing, though.

So if you have any extra Coca-Cola, you might wanna pour some in the toilet between deep cleans.
