Sure, most people want to rescue hardwood floors if possible, but for those who want to make a bolder choice, you can also paint them. Of course, if you decide to paint your floors, some color choices will work better than others.
According to Jin Chen, a realtor at E C Realty Inc., neutral tones are the way to go when it comes to flooring. Grays, blues, and whites are all a safe bet when it comes to widespread appeal, which is an asset to your home.
Even with these neutrals, though, there’s some room for customization. For example, Chen advises using a light gray for farmhouse-style homes, while deeper grays are ideal for modern designs.
Melanie Muss, a broker associate at Douglas Elliman Real Estate, told Apartment Therapy that color can work with a home as a whole, but that’s the key.
“Picking a color that complements the color of the home can really add a fun accent,” Muss said. “Black and white both work well for a more modern look. I also really like almost any shade of blue.”
So, if you’ve been considering painting those floors, you might wanna save the bright yellow might for your front door.
