You always wanna get the most bang for your buck when selling your home, and this easy, affordable bathroom upgrade from The Property Brothers is one way to increase its value.
Drew and Jonathan Scott from HGTV’s The Property Brothers recently shared their favorite bathroom upgrades with MyDomaine. While some were real splurges (like installing double vanities), the most affordable was just mixing up the fixtures.
Because color and mixed materials are back in style for bathrooms, Jonathan mentioned that fixtures are an easy way to embrace both. Plus, because you’re mixing and matching, you can hunt for deals.
“Using brushed brass, nickel, and golds together is totally acceptable in design,” Jonathan said. “However, be cautious not to go so overboard that your home becomes a crazy distraction to the eye. Balance is key.”
The Property Brothers aren’t the first to recommend mixing metals, though.
Last year, Stephanie Pierce, director of design and trends at MasterBrand Cabinets, told PureWow this works in kitchens, as well. People often try to pick matching faucets and hardware, but because different companies make different finishes, this can get difficult.
“It’s better to pick a range of shades and go with that,” Pierce said. “Let them build on each other.”
