Whether you’re heading back to the office or are just looking to spruce up your work-from-home station, a desk plant might be the way to go. If you need some inspiration, just head to Instagram.
Mainland Aggregates used Instagram data to determine the most popular plants for desks. It narrowed down 55 hashtags of different species, looked them up on the social platform, then kept track of how many times they were used.
The company then narrowed things down even further based on which species required the least sun and water and were, therefore, more likely to thrive in an office setting. The lucky winner, with 479,291 shares on Instagram, was Pothos, aka, devil’s ivy.
It’s not difficult to see why it won, as this plant requires little attention. In fact, care includes letting the soil dry out completely between waterings, so if you forget, it’ll likely be just fine. It thrives in temps between 65-75 degrees Fahrenheit indoors, and should be placed in bright, but indirect, sunlight.
Sure, it’s killable if you really try, but even the most novice of green thumbs should be able to keep this quick-growing, ivy-esque plant alive on their desks.
