While the Fourth of July has come and gone, summer is still in full swing. There are still lots of warm-weather days ahead, and Ina Garten’s summer sangria recipe will help you enjoy the rest of them.
In an Instagram video, Garten originally shared the recipe as an Independence Day cocktail, but it’s perfect for the whole of summer. In fact, the base ingredient is a summer staple: rosé.
To make the delicious-looking sangria, you’ll need a few ingredients: rosé (duh), pomegranate juice, freshly squeezed lemon juice, super-fine sugar, Grand Marnier (or any orange liquor), brandy or cognac, water, ice, strawberries, raspberries, and red plums.
You combine all of the ingredients into a single pitcher and let chill in the fridge for at least two hours, but Garten does say that the recipe works best when chilled overnight. Then, serve in a glass with ice. It’s that simple.
This isn’t the first time that Garten has blessed the internet with a perfect cocktail recipe, though. Back in April of last year, the Barefoot Contessa had a playful Cosmo recipe that went viral. In the video, Garten explains that a Cosmopolitan is her favorite drink and proceeds to walk through how to make one (vodka, cranberry, Cointreau and lime, by the way) in pitcher form. Yes, a full pitcher’s worth of Cosmopolitan. Of course, the internet loved it.
If you’ve been looking for the perfect summer drink, Garten’s rosé sangria might be the way to go, but if you need something non-alcoholic, check out these recipes.
