When it comes to kitchens, you likely hear about cabinets types and countertops, but what about floors? According to Instagram, there’s also a popular flooring trend taking over kitchens.

Don’t worry. No one is advocating for carpet in a kitchen, but let’s be honest, there’s no shortage of other flooring options. If you’ve been thinking of reworking your own kitchen, there is one type you might want to consider, though: herringbone.

Sure, your brain probably went straight to plain old hardwoods (because if it’s not broke, don’t fix it), but according to a new study from Wren Kitchens, it’s the herringbone floor that people are loving. The study looked at hashtag research and search trends to discover all of the most popular kitchen trends of the moment, and herringbone won out.

According to Wren Kitchens’ research, the design—which features planks arranged in a V-shape for a dramatic and elegant effect—is Instagram’s favorite new floor. The company, which is aptly a kitchen renovation and material website, says that the interesting pattern creates “interest within the space,” and its unique pattern sets apart other designs which might feature more common horizontally placed wooden planks.

In fact, the floor has gotten so popular that when you search Instagram for #herringbonefloor, you’ll see a whopping 83,000 posts from which you can draw inspiration.

Whether you’re thinking of renovating your kitchen for your own enjoyment or for resale, a herringbone floor might belong in your maybe list. While you’re at it, you might want to consider some green cabinets, too.
