Three photos show someone mixing eggs, cheese, milk, ham, and scallions in a mug, microwaving it, and having a mug omelette.

Making an omelet in a mug doesn’t sound like a good idea. Turns out, though, it’s fantastic if you need your breakfast with a quickness. And even the most novice of chefs can do it with this simple recipe.

Thanks to a TikTok video from The Food Network, there’s a new breakfast in town. While mug omelets aren’t brand-new, this video has racked up a cool 400,000 views and over 25,000 likes, probably because they’re so quick and easy to make.

All you need to make a mug omelet are the typical omelet ingredients, a mug, and a microwave.

First, just spray the inside of the mug with cooking spray, and then add a pat of butter and some scallions. Heat the ingredients in the microwave for a minute until the butter melts.

Next, add green onions, milk, two eggs, ham, cheese, and any other omelet ingredients you love. Stir all the ingredients together, microwave for two minutes, and then you’ve got a perfect omelet in a handy, portable mug.

The mug omelet might be one of the easiest breakfasts to go viral on TikTok yet, but others—like the quiche-stuffed bagel and tortilla omelets—have amassed major views, as well. Basically, if you’re looking for new ways to crack an egg, start your research on TikTok.
