Makeup remover is an essential product for any makeup-wearer. After all, the days of falling asleep in your makeup are (hopefully) far behind you, and we all know that ordinary facewash is no match for waterproof mascara.
However, that storebought makeup remover is one cosmetic cost that you actually don’t need. All you need to take your makeup off is one product: natural oil.
Oils will break down even the most stubborn makeup so you can rinse it away. However, you don’t need to buy a brand-name oil cleanser to get this result. You can take off your makeup using everyday, inexpensive products like coconut, olive, or jojoba oil. They’re far cheaper than even drugstore makeup removers and offer the same (if not better) results.
If you’ve been in the oil-free-makeup club since puberty, you might have one question: will it make me break out? The answer is no. While certain oils clog pores and cause problems, natural plant oils don’t. They’re great for skin of all types. Each natural oil is slightly different, though, so you might want to experiment with a few until you find which one your skin likes best.
To use oil as a makeup remover, apply it over your makeup and let it sit for a few minutes to break down stubborn formulas. Then, you can gently wipe the makeup away as you clean your face. Afterward, you can even use the same oil as an overnight facial moisturizer that will leave you glowing without breaking your budget.
