Buying Guide for Wallets for Women

Why buy a women’s wallet?

Women’s wallets are more portable than a handbag, though wallets designed for women tend to be a bit larger and bulkier than men’s wallets. Often purses are set down and forgotten, risking losing money and essential items, and thus wallets are easier to keep track of than a bag. Some women’s wallets can even be clipped onto a keychain or lanyard to keep them close and secure.

What should you consider in a wallet for women?

  • Size and Capacity: Most women’s wallets will list their capacity, including their dimensions, number of card slots, cash and coin slots, and any room for other extra items. Be sure that any wallet you buy is large enough for your personal needs.
  • Design: Consider if you want a pocket wallet, wristlet, or keychain-style women’s wallet. Keychain wallets are the smallest, while wristlets tend to be the largest. Besides size and capacity, the main difference is that wristlets have a strap so that you can loop the wallet around your wrist for safekeeping. This strap may or may not be removable, depending on the brand. Other design considerations are your wallet’s material, texture, shape, color, and pattern. Most will be made of either fabric (usually microfiber) or leather (real or faux). Most women’s wallets will be square or rectangular, though there are other options if you want something more unique.
  • Security: Since wallets are used to hold important personal items like driver’s licenses, credit cards, money, and keys, you’ll want to ensure that your new wallet is as secure and protective. Some models have both zipper and snap closures, providing greater security than just one or the other alone. Some of the zippers even have locks. Others have hidden pockets so that you can tuck your items out of sight. Many wallets these days have RFID protection to protect your personal information better inside. If you’re prone to dropping your wallet, you may also prefer one with a harder outer shell to keep the items inside safe from falls.

What’s the difference between a wallet and a wristlet?

While a wallet can have an attachment for a wristlet, not all wristlets are considered wallets. Some common wristlets are designed to be pouches, full-sized purses, or change purses; some don’t have the convenient pockets of a wallet. While some wallets are considered wristlets adorned with a convenient strap that makes them easy to carry, not all wallets have this feature.

Our Picks for the Best Wallets for Women

Best Overall

SENDEFN Small Women's Wallet

This small and practical wallet is surprisingly roomy, saving space for all your essential items while protecting them with RFID technology.

Pros: First, this wallet is well constructed; each section is made from high-quality materials. It also has a luxe, soft leather feel. It also comes with a small patch of matching leather if any repairs need to be made in the future.

Cons: The compartments are extremely small, and the ID window may not hold your license.

Bottom Line: If you’re looking for an attractive wallet in lovely colors that protects your important cards, this may be an excellent option. It’s small and thick to fit in most handbags and shoulder bags.

Best for Storage

ANDOILT Women's Genuine Leather Wallet

This genuine leather wallet offers safety, privacy, and security for your credit and debit cards, IDs, and phone.

Pros: This wallet has a different design than most, but that’s not a bad thing. It’s large enough to carry as an attractive clutch, and it flips open to the side for easy access. The inside is spacious enough to hold most cards a person may need, including vaccination cards. The price is very reasonable for the quality of the leather, stitching, zippers, and other materials.

Cons: The phone pocket fits only up to the size of an iPhone 12 Pro Max.

Bottom Line: This fantastic wallet can almost double as a small clutch-style purse. It comes in an attractive giftable box, great for giving to a special friend, and all the credit card slots are RFID protected.

Largest Capacity

With room for all of your cards, IDs, phone, and even some cute pictures, this convenient and pretty wallet is easy to carry around town.

Pros: Aesthetically, this is a pleasing, beautiful wallet in the richness of color, quality of leather, and luxe details. It has tons of space for your bills, receipts, and credit cards. The zipper pocket is large enough to fit most current mobile phones, and it comes with a wristlet for easy convenience.

Cons: Because of the thickness of this wallet, it can be a little stiff.

Bottom Line: This is an awesome pick if you’re looking for an all-in-one wallet that can hold your phone and double as a wristlet. It has tons of slots for credit cards and a separate area for your ID with RFID blocking.
